A bumper in Ireland and another useful looking newcomer unleashed from the Willie Mullins yard. That was the scenario in Clonmel tonight as Kayf Tara mare Daring Carlotta moved well on the fast ground and quickened up to score.
Daring Carlotta moved closer in second with half a mile to race. Within the final two furlongs she hit the front and was pushed out by Patrick Mullins to hold Isaac Bell who kept her honest all the way to the line.
The winner was the 11/8 ‘jolly’ while Isaac Bell was runner-up for the third race in a row. His SP was 9/2. Dubh Eile kept on well in the final furlong to get on the heels of the front two. She took third at 20/1.
Patrick Mullins said of the five-year-old: “The owners have been very patient as she had a few problems and she is a good mare. She got to the front a bit too soon. I thought Oscar'swan would bring her to the furlong pole, and she just idled when she got to the front.
"What really impressed me about her was how long it took me to pull her up. There is a mares winners’ bumper that she could go for, but we will see what Dad thinks.”
The winner is bred by Kenneth Parkhill who has bred a number of the Supreme Horse Racing Club horses with Zuzka being the most successful.
