Curvature opened her account in fine style when making all under Shane Foley in the Flat Is Back At Leopardstown Fillies Maiden this afternoon.

The daughter of Lope De Vega showed promise on both previous outings at Dundalk over the winter but relished the heavy ground here on her first turf start.

Foley was positive on the well-backed 5/1 (from 8/1) chance getting her to the front from a wide draw and finding plenty in the straight to beat Warm Heart by three lengths. Persian Jewel kept on at one pace on debut to take third and further three and a half lengths adrift with Hazalaya putting in some good late work in fourth.

Winning trainer Jessica Harrington was represented by her daughter Kate who said: “We got it a bit wrong sending her to Dundalk as she loved that slow ground today. We might try and find a bit of black type with her soon rather than later.

“She’s a nice filly and one we did like last year but we were a bit disappointed with her two runs up in Dundalk. She showed us there today what she had been showing at home.

“We had race fitness on our side with her run in February. We knew she was fit and ready to go and from her wide draw there was no point in getting her to slot in so the plan was to let her roll forward.”
