Mighty Mirage traded at 1.01 when she shot clear in the final furlong of the Thank You To All The Frontline Workers Handicap in Cork, but she was caught on the line by Baron Samedi
Mighty Mirage came through between horses to pick up the lead a furlong and a half down and travelled strongly for Rory Cleary.
At the furlong pole she moved two lengths clear and still held a healthy lead with 150 yards to travel.
First-time gelding Baron Samedi and Shane Crosse had picked up the chase in second, though, and motored home to get up by a short head at 6/1.
The runner-up was a 9/2 chance and finished eight and a half lengths clear of 5/2 favourite Slieve Bearnagh
