Cliff House who was second in Down Royal yesterday, had to settle for the same result in the beginners' chase at Ballinrobe after being worn down close home by Cooldine Bog and Cathal Landers.
Andrew Slattery 's winner was backed in from 9-2 to 3-1 and finished well as Cliff House began to tie up.
There was half a length between the winner and runner-up (5/2 from 4/1) at the line.
There was a 22-length gap back to third-placed Knock On Steel who cut out most of the running.
Landers, who was on board Cliff House yesterday, commiserated with connections as he said: "He's run a cracker again."
