Sun 22nd May 2011, 17:27

Conem made it career win No 8 in the Supermacs Drive Thru Handicap Chase for trainer Willie Austin and jockey Barry Geraghty.

The now 11yo had not won a race since January '09 at Leopardstown, but he took up the running here 5 out and never looked back from there winning by four and a half lengths at the finish.

The 9/4fav Francis Du Mesnil tried to close on the winner entering the straight, but he couldn't wear him down. The pair went eleven lengths clear of the third placed horse Antipode who ran on for third.

The winning Cloughjordan, Co Tipperary handler said after the race, "The handicapper, dropped him a couple of pounds and that was a big help.

"He ran a great race at Punchestown on his last start and I’m delighted to see him win again here. He might have one more run now, before we put him out to grass."
