The Jim Bolger trained Mona Brown ran out a convincing five length winner of the Naas Apprentice Handicap, providing her rider Killian Hennessy with his second career success.

Hennessy, from Youghal, Co Cork, recorded his first winner at Naas in June when scoring aboard Fionnuar who is also trained by his boss Jim Bolger.

The Michael Ryan owned victor was sent off at 12/1 after she disappointed on her last two outings at Tipperary and the Curragh.

Recording her third career success today, she chased the leaders in the early stages and was fourth at the halfway point.

She was pushed along to lead two furlongs from home and she kept on strongly in the final furlong to record a comfortable win. Enigma Code (16/1) attempted to make all under Megan Carberry for Damien English, but he couldn’t match the winner in the final furlong and he had to settle for second, while Maude Adams (11/1) was a further neck back in third under Gary Halpin for Kevin Prendergast. Hes Our Music was sent off the well-backed 7/2 favourite (opened at 5/1 on-course) but he could only manage a disappointing fifth under Ian Queally for Pat Flynn.

Jim Bolger said afterwards: "Little fish are sweet. She is in again at Leopardstown on Thursday for a nine furlongs fillies handicap and she will run there if she comes out of this ok."
