The Colleen Ban rewarded support at big prices this morning when producing a game front-running performance in the mares maiden hurdle at Roscommon.

Brian Cawley 's mount took them along in the two-and-a-half mile contest but was joined turning for home by 11/10 favourite Oscars Joy

The hotpot couldn't find a way past Maureen Danagher's charge, however, as she knuckled down to her task well.

The nine-year-old, who had shown only moderate form previously and came into the race holding a lowly rating of 88, kept on well under pressure to score by a neck.

The winner had attracted support from 20/1 this morning into 12/1 and was sent off a 10/1 shot on course.

There was a sting in the tail for Cawley, who picked up a three-day whip ban.

Oscars Joy was the third short-priced favourite in a row to have to settle for second on the card tonight.

The going for the jumps course was changed to yielding to soft prior to the race having been good before racing.
