Climate was a 5/1 winner of the Irish EBF Supporting Irish Champions Weekend Fillies Maiden in the hands of Shane Foley.

A second winner on the card for Australia after Giselles Ausie in the opener, Climate chased the leaders before being ridden into second over a furlong out. She responded well to Foley’s urgings to reel in the 6/4 favourite Adelisa in the final fifty yards and score by half a length. Essential Part finished another four and a quarter lengths away in third.

Runner-up to recent Group 3 winner Acanella on debut back in April, Climate filled the same position on her previous outing at Naas last month.

Kate Harrington, assistant to winning trainer Jessica Harrington, said: “We're delighted with that and we didn't think we'd be waiting until now to win a maiden with her.

“We've learned a lot about her and we have to ride her quiet like that and take her back.

“Probably stepping up to ten furlongs will bring even more improvement. Shane felt that she quickened, levelled off and then really stayed on at the end.

“She's a beautifully bred filly and it's great that she's got her winning bracket now.

“She's in the Group 3 at Gowran, the Denny Cordell Lavarack Lanwades Stud Stakes, and I'd say that's where she'll go next.”
