It finished like it started at Tramore with a Henry de Bromhead-trained winning favourite. David Roche brought the King's Theatre mare Classic Theatre home a convincing victor of the Irish Stallion Farms E.B.F. (Mares)(Pro/Am) INH Flat Race. Little Folke had set the ball rolling earlier in the day for de Bromhead, with a stylish win in the maiden hurdle under Andrew Lynch.
Here Roche was never far away on 6/4 shot Classic Theatre, and after striking for home coming up out of the dip she raced on for a length and a half win over promising newcomer Biddy The Boss
"That's brilliant. John (Lenihan) owns her with the Brownes, and I'm delighted for them," said de Bromhead.
"She is a lovely mare, really well-bred. She is out of a sister to Joncol who the Brownes bred as well.
"She has always been a nice mare and had a good first run but she was a little bit disappointing behind Fayonagh on her second run.
"She did that really nicely today and she will head for the field now. Davy gave her a super ride there. He had to wait for a split in the dip and when he got it she burst through.
"She is a mare we've always liked a lot. We will give her the grass now and get her back for September time and go hurdling and try get some black-type for her.
"Being one of ours winning a bumper is pretty impressive, that usually says a lot!"
