Gavin Cromwell's Clarita was a comfortable winner of the Irishinjuredjockeys.com Handicap over seven furlongs in Dundalk.
The three-year-old filly was held up by Gary Carroll and began to make headway inside the final two furlongs.
Forward momentum saw her arrive into the lead in the final 150 yards and she soon asserted to win by a length and three-quarters at 8/1. Mehman the 7/2 favourite, had to settle for second and was some three-and-a-quarter-lengths clear of Shoot To Kill (4/1).
Carroll said: "She is probably a filly that likes doing that - finding her feet early and she would pick up well then.
"She was dropping in grade and the race went to suit her. Everything went right for her today which was great.
"You more likely get a stronger pace over the seven (furlongs). In the mile, they are usually steady and it doesn't help.
"It was great to get it - it was supposed to be her last run, so might reconsider if we can. She's in great nick and you'd love to get another one out of her.
"It was nice to get today."
Clarita doubled her career total having scored over course and distance in December last year.
