There was drama at the last when leader Killare Castle crashed out, leaving Cerca Trova with the win in the Tom Carroll Memorial Handicap Chase at Tramore.

The Jim Dreaper-trained and Andrew Lynch-ridden Cerca Trova was patiently ridden and came with her bid from before two out.

She was pressing Killare Castle, but backers of that one are entitled to feel hard-done by as he was toughing it out well when coming to grief at the final fence under Ryan Treacy.

"It's hard to know how it would have played out. I thought if I got a good jump at the last that I'd go close. She wasn't stopping and sure you need a bit of luck," remarked Lynch.

For his part Tom Dreaper, son of the winning trainer, added: "She fractured her cannon bone on her last run last season. She might be covered sooner rather than later. She is a great fun mare for the owner."

M.A. Enright, rider of Town Pond trained by Peter L. Kavanagh, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount tired quickly.
