Celtic gives Mullins a fabulous 5-timer
Willie Mullins completed a day to remember when Celtic Folklore made it five winners from six races at Punchestown for his Closutton, County Carlow outfit by taking the concluding Rockview (Q.R.) Flat Race with Patrick aboard. The five-fold came in at odds of nearly 952/1.
Of course the other Mullins hope on the day Kerb Appeal performed well in the handicap hurdle to finish third.
In the bumper Celtic Folklore, pulled up in a point-to-point for Tracey Gilmour, and a half brother to Nicky Henderson's exciting young talent, Ericht, from the family of Native Scout, made all, he eased clear early in the straight and ran on well in the final furlong to very easily beat Battle Bound by seven lengths.
Mullins said: "He's an out and out galloper and he enjoyed himself. He'll probably go jumping rather than for a winners bumper but I'll have to talk to Patrick first.
"The way he races a winners bumper could be a bit hard on him.
"It's been a fantastic day and I'm delighted with that. I was hoping Gagewell Flyer might be my winner for the day and I have to say that Paul (Townend) was fantastic on all of them (Golden Silver, Some Target Gagewell Flyer and Raptor "
