Catchy Lass was held up in rear before finishing her race powerfully to take the extended mile and a quarter handicap in Dundalk.

Anthony Mulholland 's charge was ridden by Conor McGovern who lessened her 10 stone weight to 9-7 with his 7lb claim.

The seven-year-old mare began to stay on in the home straight with less than two furlongs to race. She got a lovely split between horses which she made the best of as she tackled Mademoiselle Penny in the final furlong.

She responded well to McGovern's urgings to edge ahead and she passed the post half a length up on that rival.

The winner's SP was 7/1 with the runner-up a 16/1 chance. Sea Of Blue the well-backed 15/8 favourite narrowly shaded third by a short head from Shanghai Dolly

Anthony Mulholland said: "She's a genuine wee mare and always runs her heart out.

“Every time she has run well the handicapper has put her up and she's only getting down to a mark she had a chance of winning off. That's her grade.

“That's only her second win and she deserves it. I'm pleased for her.

“She loves it around here and we'll try and find something similar.”
