The betting said that the 'Ladbrokes' European Breeders Fund Maiden at Galway was an open and shut case. Two to seven chance Capri pleased those that forced him into such odds, with a convincing two and a half length success.
It was always likely that Seamie Heffernan would use the Galileo grey's experience to his advantage, and he was soon up there in a pace setting role.
There was encouragement from the newcomers, Rekindling (2nd), Tang Dynasty (3rd, a Ballydoyle stable companion of the winner) and Percy (4th) but Capri was gone beyond recall a furlong out and he prevailed by a comfortable two and a half lengths.
"He had a lovely run the first day. Everyone always liked him and Seamie loved him all along. He loved him the first day but he was very green," explained Joseph O'Brien on his father Aidan's juvenile.
"The third (Tang Dynasty) race a nice race, it was kind of the same story, he ran a bit green and finished out his race well.
"The winner could be a very good horse. Dad has the National Stakes in the back of his mind for him and he could end up there. He has a very big engine and he'll obviously go for something like the Beresford then."
