Willie McCreery registered an unusual '1-3' in Gowran's Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Maiden today, as the trainer's experienced but easy-to-back Cancelled defeated gambled stablemate, and newcomer, Coul Dreamer into third place.
Five-times raced Cancelled had shown consistent form but on today's 'show', drifted from 6/4 to 11/4, while stablemate debutante Coul Dreamer was plunged late-on, from 10s to 100/30.
In the race, Cancelled raced professionally under Nathan Crosse and got the better of runner-up Valinor by a half-length, while the winner's stablemate Coul Dreamer, which has improved from mid-field, finished an encouraging but never-threatening third.
McCreery reported “Cancelled deserved it and it was about time. She loved that quicker ground.
“We went into a black-type race the last day and if anything, I don't think she got home over the mile-and-a-half so we'll stick to a mile-and-two.
“She's a good honest filly. She's rated 83 and she'd hardly move much off that.”
