The Jessica Harrington trained Cailin Annamh recorded her eighth career success, and her second over fences, as she took the last at Kilbeggan this evening, the Ladies Day July 18th Novice Chase.
Just five lined up for this two mile four furlong contest, but the field was soon reduced to three with See It As It Is falling at the first, impeding Froggy who was then soon pulled up.
The winner, ridden by Barry Geraghty, settled in a close-up third as Midnight Game attempt to make all.
After the last (usual second last) she came off the bridle and Midnight Game (6's to 5's on-course) travelled best under Davy Russell for Gordon Elliott, with Highbrow Blue also being ridden along.
Cailin Annamh got to the front as they bypassed the last and she kept on well from there to score comfortably by four lengths.
The winner proved easy to back on-course and having opened at 4/9 she went off the 4/7 clear favourite.
Highbrow Blue was backed on-course from 7/2 to 11/4 but he could only manage a disappointing last under Robbie Power for Paul Nolan.
Jessica Harrington said afterwards: "She was good. The ground was a bit softer than she would like it. She loves to rattle off hard ground.
"It was a bit messy with the last fence being taken out (due to the low lying sun). It was a long run-in.
"She will go to Killarney now for a two mile six race there."
