Von Humboldt stayed on stoutly in the closing stages to land the odds on his debut in the bumper at Punchestown.
Charles Byrnes' charge attracted plenty of support from 2/1 in the morning and went to post a 8/13 shot.
Richie Deegan jumped out in front on the Arctic Cosmos gelding but he was soon joined by Feelin' Groovy and that rival led at halfway.
Von Humboldt reclaimed the lead turning for home and held off the challenge of Black Tears inside the final furlong to record a length-and-a-quarter success.
It was a third bumper winner for Byrnes this month with Mary B and Balliniska Band also well backed to make winning debuts recently.
"I'm lucky enough that I have a nice bunch of young horses coming along. I bought him as a foal as well, and I bought his full-brother only a few months ago,” said Byrnes.
"He wasn't over-trained today and I thought he looked big enough in the ring. He's a horse for the future. It's the same family as Red Jack and is a goodish National Hunt pedigree.
"He was green and a bit unbalanced but what you would like about him is that he did pick up again when the other horse came at him near the line.
"He won't run again for a month or six weeks and we'll see how he is then and decide what to do."
