Roaring Bull completed a double on the day at Fairyhouse for Gigginstown Stud, Gordon Elliott and rider Jack Kennedy when taking the Follow Fairyhouse On Social Media Beginners Chase.

The Milan gelding was never far from the pace and was sent on well before the straight in this 2m5f event.

Those who supported the six-year-old into 4/7 favourite had a brief anxious moment after a slow jump at the last.

However he soon asserted again on the run-in and came home two and a half lengths clear of Great Khan Home Place was a further two and a quarter lengths back in third, while those who backed Maeve’s Choice from 10/1 into 11/2 lost out when he fell at the fourth last.

Kennedy said, “He wasn’t doing a stroke the whole way around. He jumps well but just needs a bit of company. He pulled it out again when the other horse came to him.

“He put down on me at the second last, and at the last I could feel him backing off underneath me 100 yards before it. I knew once I was in front if something came to me that he’d pull out again.

“He seemed to enjoy the (longer) trip today. A truer gallop and a bit more company should be perfect for him.”
