Listowel's Brouder brothers are making an impact on the Irish national hunt scene at present and Gearoid Brouder today got on the scoresheet when riding the Shane Nolan trained Krisquin to win the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Chase.

Brouder's younger conditional jockey brothers Kevin and Gavin (who won the half hour earlier race on My Manekineko have both gained traction in recent months and Gearoid Brouder, the older of the trio and who doubles as a flat jockey, today notched his 17th career success with Krisquin who beat runner-up Bridge Native by eight and a half lengths.

Following the race trainer Nolan stated “he's an older horse (nine) and he didn't come to us until he was six. He was point-to-pointing and lucky enough the owners have plenty of patience.

“He's moderate enough and I'd say the blinkers worked a treat and he had no weight on his back today.

“He jumps well. I'm actually surprised at how well he's done it, there could be another day in him as he gallops and jumps.

“He gave him a brilliant ride. He had unseated in a couple of beginners chases and point-to-points - you just have to get him into a rhythm and leave him to do it.”
