Brosna George was a fitting winner of the Fairyhouse Members 2019 Handicap Hurdle at Fairyhouse today as Arthur Moore's gelding bagged his third win in as many months on a day when the trainer's father Dan Moore is remembered in the featured Grade A Chase.

Brosna George ended a remarkable 17 month losing spell for trainer Moore, Ireland's Champion Trainer in 1992, when winning at Down Royal in November and having won since at today's Co Meath venue in December, today again followed up under Jockeys Championship leader Paul Townend.

Moore later commented “he's going the right way and we thought he was in great form but didn't expect him to improve that much.

“The bigger track and the bigger hurdles suited him very well, I think, and the strong pace. It's extraordinary because on his pedigree he's an out-and-out stayer but he has a touch of class.

“We'll have to think of the Pertemps now at Punchestown next month. It suits him very well to have the three or four weeks between his races so that would be ideal for him.

“It's great for Gerry (Cullen, owner); he's a 90-year-old man and he's a great enthusiast. That's better than any pills!”

Moore's father Dan Moore trained L'Escargot to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup in both 1970 and 1971, as well as the 1975 Aintree Grand National and is remembered in the next race, the BetVictor-sponsored E100,000 Dan Moore Memorial Handicap Chase.
