Sea Breezing (5/1) made a winning debut in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden.

Ado McGuinness trains the daughter of Mehmas who cost 60,000 pounds at the Goffs UK Breeze Up Sale after being prepared by ex-jockey Mark Grant.

She led a furlong out before running on well to beat Dream Oasis (7/2) and Caletta (11/1) by half a length and the same, with the last-named enjoying little luck in running.

Winning rider Ronan Whelan said: "She knew her job early, obviously she came from the breeze-ups. Ado and Stephen (Thorne, assistant trainer) have done a good bit of work with her since then. She took me there and was just a little bit green in front.

"She felt like to me that she had plenty left in the tank, so she could be a progressive filly and I think she could go further. She'll progress as the year goes on; I think.

"She showed a lot of natural speed and she could go six (furlongs) as well. She is not just pigeon-holed to a five-furlong filly.”

“That was our first two-year-old runner of the year so it's a great start,” said assistant Stephen Thorne.

“We think she's smart, she was a little green in front but was very professional. We could possibly go to the Queen Mary with her now.”
