Trainer Jim Bolger and stable jockey Kevin Manning won the Thanks To All The Frontline (Fillies) Maiden at Cork today with Assurance which scored in first-time cheek-pieces.

Bolger's homebred daughter of his 2,000 Guineas winner New Approach was last seen when finishing sixth in a useful maiden at the Curragh in June and today made all when holding the challenge of runner-up Secret Pulse by a head.

Afterwards Manning stated “she was due a turn at some stage and had been knocking on the door and running some good races in good maidens. The maidens she has been running in have turned out well and it was nice for her to get her turn.

“Hopefully she might pick up a bit of black-type along the way.”
