Jim Bolger continue a good weekend at the Curragh when Constant Comment claimed the FBD Hotel & Resorts Castleknock Hotel Spring Fillies Handicap.
The 5/1 shot was produced to challenge a furlong from home, by Kevin Manning, and knuckled down well in the closing stages.
She got home by a neck at the line from 20/1 shot Groundfrost in a bunch finish. There was just a short-head back to Little Clarinet and a further neck to Elusive Beauty in fourth.
Constant Comment had won her maiden at Naas just a week ago. It was a third winner of the weekend for Bolger after a double yesterday.
“She's a good battler and is learning on the job,” said Bolger.
“I took a chance going back so quick. She could get a bit further and will probably go for another handicap.
“We'll possibly look to get some black-type further down the line but her owner is very patient and we have plenty of time.”
Bolger had been unhappy with the riding of Pat Smullen in the Irish 1,000 Guineas after Rehana had came across to the rail after three furlongs, slightly hampering Hydrangea
The knock on effect was his runner Bean Feasa having to be snatched up on the rail by Kevin Manning.
He told Attheraces:- "It should never have happened and it was very obviously dangerous riding. It was disgraceful riding. The filly is fine but it could have been otherwise.
"There was absolutely no need for it There was absolutely no need for it whatsoever.
"Pat Smullen had the whole track under him and he decided to play jockey and take out the two on his inside. There is no excuse for that carry on."
