Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning brought up their double at Naas with Parish Boy who was nicely backed down to 9/4 on the off.

Bolger ran two horses in this seven furlong juvenile maiden and it was his other horse, Popularity who cut out the pace under Ronan Whelan.

Parish Boy was ridden into the lead from his stablemate under two furlongs out and he kept on well to foil Order Of St George (9/4) by three quarters of a length. Sacrificial the 15/8 favourite, made headway from seventh to get involved. He raced into third 150 yards out, but that was as close as he got.

Jim Bolger said: “I thought he would win at Leopardstown. He’s a good sort of horse. It will be next year before we see the best of him. I would say he will be effective at a mile and I would expect him to stay.”

Parish Boy was beaten six lengths into fifth on debut at Leopardstown. He opened at 9/2 this morning and was supported to 3/1 before racing.
