Cause Of Causes under Paul Carberry, overcame a final flight blunder to win the Winner Alright Hurdle at Downpatrick today, scoring for trainer Gordon Elliott.

Carberry moved the well bred son of Dynaformer, overcoming a disappointing display at Perth previously, to challenge when making his error at the final obstacle but the gelding responded well on the run-in to pull a length and a half clear of Streamstown at the line.

Elliott was absent but Carberry did later say “Cause Of Causes seems to let on that he's going better than he actually is but I had plenty of time to get him organised again after the mistake. He won well in the end.”
