Mayo trainer Fergal Birrane got off the mark with the assistance of Derby winning jockey Padraig Beggy as Glenmoore gained a deserved success in division two of the Irishinjuredjockeys.com Handicap at Dundalk.
The Equiano gelding was touched off by Boxer Dunford a fortnight back, but here he got home by a length and three parts from Evies Wish
Second favourite Mostawfee finished third, whilst well-backed market-leader Latchet stormed down the outer for fourth.
Birrane stated afterwards: "I'm delighted and especially that my first winner is with this horse. He was lame when I had him first and we thought he might have to be put down. He's had a procedure done for kissing spines as well.
"We've coaxed him back and it's a dream come true to win with him. The visor made a huge difference to him when he ran well the last day.
"I want to thank all the stable lads as without their help I wouldn't be here today and to the owners. We have plenty of support here tonight from Killala."
Colin Keane is now officially champion jockey (11 ahead).
The Stewards enquired into an incident in the early stages of this race involving Evies Wish, ridden by D.P. Linehan, Streisand ridden by T.P. Madden, Glenmoore(GB), ridden by P.B. Beggy, Nightflight ridden by E.T. Daly and Mostawfee, ridden by B.M. Coen.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned in the presence of Andrew Slattery, master of B.M. Coen and Bernard Caldwell, representing G.M Lyons master of E.T. Daly.
Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that P.B. Beggy was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly.
Having taken his previous record in this regard into account, the Stewards suspended him for 2 racedays.
E.T. Daly, rider of Nightflight trained by Joseph Anthony Murray, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was tight for room in the early stages.
N.M. Crosse, rider of Teenage Kiss trained by Jane M. Foley, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung left.
The Stewards interviewed K.K. Hennessy, rider of Molten Gold (GB), concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race of this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(b), in that he had unnecessarily used his whip after his chance of winning or being placed had clearly gone.
Having taken his previous record in this regard into account, the Stewards suspended him for 3 racedays.
