Go For Goal showed good improvement from his debut at Roscommon last month to take the Coolmore Excelebration Maiden in convincing fashion.
Fran Berry elected to make virtually all in this seven-furlong event, and the Verglas gelding was driven clear over a furlong out.
The easy-to-back 10/1 chance kept on well inside the final furlong to beat 8/13 favourite John Constable by two lengths, with Tiffany Bay (7/1) another half-length back in third.
Winning trainer Dermot Weld’s son Kris said, “He’s out of a sister to Dance Design and stamina was never going to be an issue. He stayed at it very well and is entered at the sales.”
Berry said afterwards, “I have ridden a few winners for Dermot before but it’s my first winner for Moyglare. He quickened up well in the straight.”
