Below Zero too hot for rivals
Below Zero lead his rivals a merry dance as he ran out an impressive winner of the Bar One Racing Handicap at Dundalk.
Mark Johnston's raider made all in the six furlong event and the result never looked in doubt down the home straight.
Fran Berry kicked clear over a furlong from home on the 15/2 shot and he ran out a cosy four-length winner over 4/1 favourite The Reaper
"It's the first time I've been here myself and I'll definitely come back," said Johnston. "I'm very impressed. It's a lovely track and a real nice track for viewing."
"This horse has been a little bit in and out and he needs things to go his own way.
"He had a good draw today and pinged out. He's hard to peg back from the front.
"You'll definitely be seeing more horses of mine here now I've seen the place. The prize money is so bad at home."
It was a double on the card for jockey Fran Berry, who had also taken the opener aboard Moonreach
The stewards interviewed Mark Johnston into the improvement in form of the winner after two moderate runs before today.
The trainer stated that he could find no reason for the poor performances and said that his runner was not the most consistent.
The explanation was accepted.
