Bamboo Bay held on in a thrilling three-way photo to make a winning start in handicap company at Roscommon tonight.
The Joseph O'Brien-trained colt was making just his fourth career outing, in the Oran Handicap, having run with promise in his two most recent maidens.
Dylan Browne McMonagle tracked the front-runner Blue Shadow and took the lead early in the straight on the 7/2 favourite.
Blue Shadow stuck on well though and pushed the winner right to the line as Uncharted also finished off strongly.
Bamboo Bay held on by a short-head at the death with Blue Shadow the same margin ahead of Uncharted.
Assistant Brendan Powell said:- “He’s a big horse that has taken time to come to himself and I’m sure he can improve more.
“Dylan said he travelled well around here and I think he’ll be even better on a more galloping track.
“He could be suited by further. He’s a big horse with a future. Dylan gave him a strong ride.”
