Barra enjoyed her first crack at fences with a decisive victory in the beginners' chase at Kilbeggan.

She jumped to the front from Sharps Choice at the penultimate fence and had the opposition on the stretch coming to the last.

The 5/4 favourite moved clear on the run-in and sauntered home by eight lengths with Jack Kennedy in the plate in the Gigginstown colours. Oathkeeper came through for second at 7/2 with Sharps Choice a further seven and a half lengths adrift in third at 12/1.

Trainer Gordon Elliott said: "She's a nice mare. On form she was entitled to win it.

“We'll try and find a bit of black-type for her now over fences and that'd be job done, she has black-type over hurdles.

“She's not a bad mare. We'll have a look and see what there is for her, she'll be kept busy anyway.”
