Shane Foley gave Baron Wild a great ride to win the Story Of Dundalk Stadium Book Available Online Nursery Handicap.
Colin Keane is difficult to keep tabs on, the way he’s riding, but Foley will keep him honest (86 plays 81) as he showed here with the steer he gave Jessica Harrington’s Baron Wild.
Foley came from towards the back on the Zoffany colt, fresh out of maiden company, delivering his challenge down the outer in the straight.
Also owned by the Moone handler, the juvenile showed greenness when delivering his effort. Foley got the max out of him though, to get there on the line.
Baron Wild touched off Ginato and Summer Ambition by a short head and a nose.
“I thought I was getting there and thought I was up,” said Foley.
“He was quite green. He's a horse we always liked early on but he just tapered off a bit.”
On the title race:- “It's good fun at the back of it all. Colin is a good lad and he's a great rider. We'll try and keep him honest for as long as we can.”
S. Foley, rider of Baron Wild trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount leaned left early and leaned right in the straight.
