The Michael Mulvany trained Barnacullia provided the Americans with a win in the latest leg of the Longines Fegentri World Champion(Q.R.) Handicap series when winning the finale at Leopardstown.
A decent handicap chaser, who finished second over fences at Galway on his most recent start, the six-year-old looked nicely treated on the level.
After three quick runs in maidens, the Ocovango gelding was a slightly disappointing fifth on his handicap debut last time but made up for that effort with a taking display here.
Settled just off the leader No Thanks for much of the race, jockey Elizabeth Scully asked her mount for more early in the straight, moving up to join the front runner before striking for home.
Although Kings Prince emerged from the pack to throw down a late challenge, the winner had flown at that stage, keeping on strongly under Scully to gain a first win on the flat.
Mulvany said:- “He's been firing a few warning shots and he deserved it.
“All credit to the young girl she gave him a great ride and had him in a lovely position the whole way.
“He just ran to his ability. He looked to be the best horse in the race and he showed that he was.
“He's been a great servant, I don't know where we're going next but he'll probably go back chasing.”
