Ballydoyle’s Cadamosto (7/4 joint favourite) won the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden at Dundalk on debut under Ryan Moore.
After missing two intended engagements as he was reported off his feed, the son of No Nay Never was equipped with a tongue-strap for this juvenile sprint.
Cadamosto did everything right off the front end, Aidan O’Brien’s charge easily relegating his son Donnacha’s Silver Surfer to the runner-up berth at a distance of three and a half lengths.
The silver medallist did alright in the end, considering he veered badly right leaving the stalls and was slowly into stride.
“He has a super attitude and he travelled around very comfortably all the way,” said Moore.
“He was having a little look in front but kept up to his task very well. You'd be very happy with what he's done today.”
G.M. Ryan, rider of Silver Surfer (GB) trained by Donnacha Aidan O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount went right jumping from the gates.
B.M. Coen, rider of Threebagsfull trained by J.P. Murtagh, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount got a bit of a bump leaving the stalls.
C.D. Hayes, rider of Noturningthatcher trained by Craig O'Neill, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount got a bump leaving the stalls.
The Stewards reviewed an incident leaving the stalls involving Silver Surfer (GB), ridden by G.M. Ryan, placed second, Threebagsfull, ridden by B.M. Coen, placed third and Noturningthatcher, ridden by C.D. Hayes, unplaced, where it appeared that Silver Surfer jumped right into the path of Threebagsfull and Noturningthatcher when leaving the stalls. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.
