Aslukwoodhavit opened his account on the second start for local trainer Henry de Bromhead when taking the Ladies Day August 19th Maiden Hurdle at Tramore.

The lightly raced gelding showed some promise for Willie Mullins in bumpers and was off the track for well over a year before soundly beaten on his hurdle debut for de Bromhead last December.

The 10/1 chance led approaching the penultimate flight and soon asserted under Rachael Blackmore.

He kept on strongly from before the last to beat the 4/7 favourite Smooth Player by 16 lengths with Ned’s Legacy a further 13 lengths adrift in third.

De Bromhead said, “I'm delighted with that. The first time tongue strap might have helped him.

“He was a bit disappointing on his first run for us at Thurles where he ran a bit free. He was keen there and just emptied out.

“I'm delighted with him today, they went a real good gallop and that seemed to suit him. He has got plenty of pace and he stayed well off of a fast pace.

“I think he wants a bit of soft ground and we just had to back off of him after his first run, but he is good now and we will see what to do with him. I'm delighted for Roger (Brookhouse) and Rachael was brilliant on him."
