Ash proves Invincible in Lottery bonanza
Invincible Ash ran away with the inaugural €100,000 National Lottery Sweepstakes Race at the Curragh.
Michael Halford 's charge had a plum draw in stall number one and was always to the fore in the group up the rail.
She kicked on over a furlong from home, under Gary Carroll, to post a
five-length win over Brushed Aside Hawkeyethenoo backed from 9/2 in the morning into 5/2 favourite, was half a length back in third.
Trevor Cawley from Sligo was the lucky punter who collected the €1,000,000 first prize from the Lottery.
Each horse ran for 25 ticketholders from the National Lottery Sweepstakes. The second place was €500,000 with €250,000 for third, €100,000 for fourth and €50,000 for fifth.
The remaining 20 ticket holders each received €10,000. All the winners were also treated to a VIP weekend at the K Club.
"I'll have stall one on the Curragh from now on please!" said Halford who had also struck with Airspace out of that draw on Friday.
"We've been trying to get her some blacktype and that's her first run back in a handicap.
"There wasn't a lot of pace around her so I said to Gary to jump and let her roll. He gave her a smashing ride.
"I have to thank Julie Burke, who rides her everyday on her own and has put a lot of work into her.
"My next mission is to find this man who has won the million and get him to buy a horse!"
