Jack Kearney was seen to good effect when electing to stay stands side on eventual winner Arnhem in the Bord Na Mona Recycling Apprentice Handicap at the Curragh.
Despite the majority of the field deciding to either stay on the far side or race down the middle, young Kearney made a bold move in sticking to his draw and ploughing a lone furrow up the stands rail.
Well up with the leaders over a furlong out, Kearney was able to mount a strong late challenge on the outside to head leader Collective Power well inside the final furlong. Hallowed Time ran on late to split that pair, with Daamberdiplomat back in fourth.
Bernie Quinn, daughter of the winning trainer, said: “We're over the moon, that's brilliant. You couldn't ask for a nicer place to have a winner.
“We've had him from May. He's had brilliant form in the past and he deserves that win, he's been too long without a win and he's had such good runs.
"He's such a good horse. He has a lovely temperament and he's a brilliant wee horse to have anything to do with.
“We only have him and another one as part of the syndicate for David, that's all and a couple of breakers.”
