The Bulmers Apprentice Handicap saw Arbourfield (6/1 into 9/2) gain a fourth Dundalk win when he prevailed under Robbie Downey. Reddot Express left the stalls without his jockey here, whilst supporters of well-backed favourite Complicit got more of a run for their money but there was still no return on investment.
That fellow raced in mid-division, he took a keen hold, and he could make no impression in fourth from a furlong out, coming home in that position.
Meanwhile George and Prunella Dobbs' Arbourfield chased the leaders, he improved to lead two furlongs out, and he stayed on well under pressure in the final furlong to register a length win over Lily's Prince
Mrs Dobbs said: "That's his fourth win here and he's so consistent. The seven furlongs is his optimum trip, and he just struggles a bit to get a mile. He'll come back for another one and then have a break. We'll run him on the grass over the summer."
K.J. Leonard, rider of Reddot Express (GB), trained by F.Birrane, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that he was forced to suddenly step off his mount as the gates opened as his mount attempted to go down in the stalls. The Stewards ordered the horse to be recertified before being allowed to run from stalls again.
