Colin Keane and Tony Martin teamed up to take the mile and five furlongs RNLI Apprentice Handicap with the lightly-raced eight-year-old mare Annie Go
Keane showed a cool head when producing the 9/2 chance between horses to lead early in the final furlong for a two and a half lengths verdict over Hide The Evidence (16/1).
Jonathan Killahena, on the sidelines for 16 months with a neck injury, made a welcome return to action on the runner-up while Roja Dove (9/1) was third.
Martin said, “She’s very consistent and was entitled to do that. She was due her turn. Colin is a great young kid and he was always going to be a good jockey.
“The owner, Albert Douglas, is a farmer and a neighbour of mine. His father Bill had horses with Jim Dreaper.”
