Angels Guard Thee relished the testing conditions at Roscommon as she ran out an easy fourteen length winner of the roscommonracecourse.ie fillies maiden over 1m 4f.

Trained by Tommy Stack and ridden by Wayne Lordan, the 3yo daughter of Dylan Thomas was sent off the 7/4 favourite after finishing a good third last time out over the course and distance behind Grandma Dotty. Josie S And B made the early running with the winner racing in second on the rail.

She was switched out to challenge over two furlongs out and was soon ridden to lead before stretching clear from over a furlong out to score in convincing fashion. Seducing for Aidan & Joseph O’Brien finished best of the rest back in second at 2/1 while the Sabrina Harty trained On A Jetplane was a further two and a quarter lengths back in third at 33/1 under Gary Carroll.

Winning trainer Tommy Stack said afterwards: "She goes on that ground and that is a real bonus. I would like to get one or two more runs into her before the end of the year."

Wayne Lordan added: "She kept going on the ground and she seemed to like it better than the rest of them. She is a grand filly at that trip.

Winning owner Alfred Sweetnam who is a farmer from Mullinahone in Co Tipperary was enjoying his first success as an owner.
