The Anthony McCann trained Grace Faraday stayed on best from two out to finally get her head in front when winning the Free Streaming All Racing At Tote.ie Handicap Hurdle at Limerick.
The six-year-old, who was registering a first career success, had always run her best races at this track. Returning to her favoured venue, the mare stepped up on a promising effort when fourth at Downpatrick earlier this month.
Travelling strongly entering the straight, James O'Sullivan produced the daughter of Flemensfirth to head long time leader Sammy Smart at the final flight.
Staying on well inside the last furlong, the McCann filly won by one-and-a-half lengths.
Anthony McCann said: "Finally she has won, and thankfully the lads have stuck with her. They got her on a free lease and it has paid off now. Twice this year she didn't run well for me but she loves it around here for some unknown reason and doesn't like going left-handed.
"I'm glad to get her in front for the lads and also for the breeder (Edward Collins). The lads are all from Monaghan, there are eight in the syndicate and this is their first horse."
