Allihies was a shock 50/1 winner of the Follow Limerick Racecourse On Twitter Maiden.
Settled in rear of mid-division by Emmet McNamara, the newcomer by Anjaal made headway on the outside from early in the straight and hit the front entering the final furlong.
He stayed on well to account for De Vega’s Warrior by three and three quarter lengths with the strong-travelling Alighieri another half a length back in third.
The winner is a half-brother to Listed juvenile winner Hot Team.
Winning trainer Kevin Coleman said: "I really liked him and tried to buy him at the Breeze-Ups and Tara Murphy recommended him, out of Denis O'Flynn's Old Carhue Stud in Cork. I had success with them with (three-time winner) Queen's Carriage so I knew coming from that farm that he'd be okay. When he went unsold, I rang Tara and we did a deal so I've to thank her.
"He is a big horse and is weak and was only ready to start off. We gave him a good break after the breeze up and he is my last two year old to run and I wanted to give him one run. He is probably the best of them so I've saved the best for last.
"He's not a speed horse and will be a 1m2f-1m4f horse on better ground next year. He is for sale and I think he could be alright - he could step up to Stakes company next year."
