Pat Smullen and Dermot Weld completed a 19/1 double at Fairyhouse, as newcomer Adool ran out an impressive winner of the concluding Fairyhouse Special Offers (Fillies) Maiden.
Having started at 11/4 last night, the daughter of Teofilo proved easy to back during the afternoon, opening on-course at 5/1 before going off a 4/1 chance.
Settled behind the leaders in fourth, she improved to challenge on the outer with two furlongs to race.
She was soon pushed to the front and drew clear in the final furlong, going on to score by four and a half lengths. Easy In Love (5's to 4's on-course) finished second under Wayne Lordan for Tommy Stack, while Etched (5/2) was a further length and a quarter back in third under Seamie Heffernan for Aidan O'Brien. Gabardine was sent off the well-backed 7/4 favourite (from 5's last night and from 2's on-course) and she finished a disappointing seventh under Shane Foley for Mick Halford.
Dermot Weld, who was on the mark earlier with Footbridge said afterwards: "She did it well. It probably wasn't the strongest maiden. She was very fit and loved the fast ground.
"She should progress well as the year goes on."
