Ad Idem does the business
Winning 'pointer' Ad Idem gained reward for his consistency on the racecourse proper when he justified odds-on favouritism in the Cashel Maiden Hurdle under Andrew McNamara.
Ad Idem was going better than Major Glendinning up the straight, he led before the last where a good jump propelled him to a four and a half length success – he stayed on much better on the run-in than the runner-up.
Sarah Gavin trained her initial winner when Ad Idem took a point-to-point at Belharbour over a year ago and now sporting different silks, the well-know mauve and green halved of the Mees, the Kayf Tara gelding has been handled by Sarah's mother Pauline for his career under rules.
Craughwell, Co. Galway-based Pauline said: "He'll go to Navan on the 14th of March (for the Irish Stallion Farms E.B.F. Novice Hurdle 2m 7f). He'll go to Fairyhouse then hopefully."
