Abraham made a winning reappearance at Bellewstown today as Martin Brassil's eight year old landed the second division of the Seamus Mulvaney Crockafotha Handicap Hurdle under the trainer's son Conor Brassil.
The son of Hernando was a winner on his first start for Brassil at Naas in January and while subsequently well beaten at Gowran latest that same month, today reappeared when beating runner-up Roi De Dubai by two lengths.
Abraham edged left under pressure on the run-in, causing some interference to the runner-up but the placings were left unaltered following an enquiry.
Brassil senior later reported “the first day he ran for us was at Naas on a nice bit of ground and I wasn't sure how he would handle winter conditions after that.
“He's a good ground horse and Conor said he probably wasn't even in love with that today as it's gone a bit chopped up and loose in places.
“He's a horse that has a nice bit of ability and the step up in trip over hurdles seems to have helped him.”
“There are a couple of hurdle races in Galway, a two-mile-five and a three-mile. He might not make the cut for the Ladbroke on the Saturday but I might make the entry.”
“Any of the recent two-mile handicaps that were ran on the Flat, he wouldn't have got into them.”
