Billy Treacy's Fethard Player landed his third win of the year when capturing the Woodlands Hotel Adare Handicap Hurdle at Tipperary under Robbie Moran.

Favourite Portrade made a good go of it from the front but Fethard Player was on terms two out and he soon led. Waydownsouth was still there with a chance when departing at the penultimate flight and eventually Fethard Player (8/1) went on to account for the aforementioned Portrade by three lengths. Top Spin (second favourite at 10/3) finished a head off that one in third.

The Stewards received a report from A.E. Lynch rider of Portrade, who stated his mount jumped a hurdle on the way to the start, despite his best efforts to avoid doing so. Having viewed a recording of the incident and considered the report, the Stewards took no further action.
