Kalanisi Og followed in the path of stable companions Dorrells Pierji and Suinda at Galway, and Sapphire Lady and Eight And Bob at Wexford, winning the concluding Galway Golf Club Restaurant 4-y-o Fillies (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race at Ballybrit to cap off an excellent day for Willie Mullins.
Said successful jockey Billy Gleeson: "They (the Mullins family) are very good to give me the opportunities and I'm glad to take them when they come. Everyone knows how hard it is to try and get these winners but when you're given the chance it is nice to be able to give something back."
Gleeson had just guided the Lions Mouth Racing Club's Kalanisi Og (4/1 out to 5/1) to a comfortable five length success from Liz Doyle's gambled-on favourite Miss Cedille (5/1 into 5/2 on track and from bigger earlier). Beautiful Betsy soon led, and ran off the bend and out at halfway. Miss Aloud tracked the leader, and she followed Beautiful Betsy by running off the bend and out at halfway, unseating Lisa O'Neill.
"It really was a good performance because she is small and we thought she might need a bit more time. She was so green and I'd be hoping she can come on from the run," elaborated Gleeson.
Mr H.D. Dunne, rider of Beautiful Betsy, trained by Norman Lee, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran out at the bend past the stable yard.
Ms L. O'Neill, rider of Miss Aloud trained by Gordon Elliott, reported to the Clerk of Scales that her mount cocked its jaw at the bend and ran out causing her to be unseated.
