After a four-timer at Gowran earlier in the campaign (October 4th, as well as another winner that evening at Dundalk), Jessica Harrington has her horses in a similar vein of form right now. After her treble at Punchestown yesterday, Mrs Harrington combined with Robbie Power for a 103/1 double on the Friday, as Burn And Turn triumphed in the Grade C SeanieMac.com European Breeders Fund Mares Handicap Chase.
Thirty five minutes on from Operating s success in the novice handicap, Burn And Turn travelled sweetly under Power.
However she had to 'get down and dirty' to get the better of the well-named She's Got Grit on the run-in, half a length separating the pair at the finish. There was thirteen lengths back to Une Artiste in third.
Mrs Harrington explained: "It was good that we split them up as I was thinking about running her in the novice (the previous race).
"She was beat by both of Nicky's mares (Une Artiste and Nadiya De La Vega at Fairyhouse.
"She probably needed the race then and the ground was a bit drier today.
"I thought for a minute before the last that she wouldn't put her head down.
"She had a wind operation last summer and she's really getting her confidence again.
"She jumped great and she's another that'll keep going during the summer.
"The Galway Plate could be for her too.
"The owner (Joe O'Flaherty) has two horses in training and they've both won (Macnicholson yesterday) here this week.
"Johnny (Jessica's late husband) bred her as well." (GC & EM)
