There was nobody arguing with Tony Martin's "he's a great honest horse, he's been around a long time now, he never runs a bad race or lets us down," summation after Ted Veale landed the featured Guinness Handicap on day six of the Listowel festival. Ibsen looked like he might land the mile and a half heat when going for home from over a furlong out.
However at ten years of age now, it was a case of when the going gets tough the tough get going as Ted Veale went into overdrive under Oisin Orr.
The top-weight eventually landed the spoils by half a length, and there was four and three parts of a length back to Grand Partner in third.
You've got to love Ted Veale! A winner in a bumper, the flat, hurdles and chases - and still at it at the age of 10... pic.twitter.com/lC8F70Gy3D

"I wish we had a few more like him, and I'm delighted for John Breslin who is a great owner," further reflected Martin in the aftermath.
"It's a great pot to win. You can run him on the Flat, over hurdles or fences. We had a bit of trouble with him last year and he didn't run from Galway to Galway. He got badly cut into but is after repaying us again.
"Oisin is an excellent rider. I use him a lot and I think he's going to be one of the stars of the future."
