Reports in which The Baler (IRE) was mentioned
Walsh & JP double up with Baby Whizz
First time blinkers worked a treat on Baby Whizz as he got up close home to win the Ladbrokes Handicap Chase, providing rider Mark Walsh and owner JP McManus with a quick double on the card (won the previous contest with Formidableopponent). Wed 16th JulKillarney preview
The third day of Killarney's July Festival takes place on Wednesday with a seven-race card featuring Flat and jumping action. Wed 16th JulThe Baler lands a gamble under Burke
The Baler landed a gamble as he got up close home to take the Richie Kavanagh Cabaret Show Handicap Chase, scoring under Jonathan Burke for Philip Dempsey. Sun 15th JunPistol outguns them
Pistol Jack could be called the winner from a good bit out in the handicap chase at Kilbeggan and duly did the business. Fri 19th AugNo stopping Me Now
Don't Stop Me Now took the Rosslare Harbour Handicap Chase with embarrassing ease under a confident ride by Ken Whelan. Sat 23rd JulCodd makes hay on The Baler
Philip Dempsey's The Baler had more scope for progression than any of his rivals in the opening KFM Hunters Chase for the Bishopscourt Cup and the youngest horse in the line-up got the job done in convincing enough fashion under Jamie Codd at Punchestown. Fri 06th May
After race at Downpatrick Sun, 15th Jun, 2014 (1st)
He lost his way but this year he has come back. He had a good run in the Bishopscourt (at the Punchestown Festival), though I don't know how good a race that was. He hops off that ground and we'll keep going at it.

After race at Punchestown Fri, 6th May, 2011 (1st)
We took him to the Brightwells sale at Cheltenham last November but he nearly choked and had colic. We brought him back then and I would have liked to get another run into him before this (finished 10th in the point-to-point bumper at Fairyhouse). He wants good ground and we'll probably keep him going over the summer. Hopefully he'll make into a nice horse next year. The owner, Ger Langan is a very popular fella and this is the first horse he's had. He lives in a neighbouring parish to me and he is very involved in football. He is a Johnstownbridge man, that's the only thing I'd hold against him!
