Latin Quarter Steeplechase preview
Peter Fahey is hopeful for a big performance from Pride Of the Artic in the Latin Quarter Chase on day two of the Galway Festival. Tue 29th JulOutsider Artic wins Naas finale
The concluding Tote Trifecta Rollover Irish Bumper at Naas today was a strong betting race with bookmakers eventually saved by 16/1 winner Pride Of The Artic, under James Fahey. Wed 09th Mar

He's very tough. I think everything came to chase him and he jumped unbelievably. He was under pressure at the last, but was quick and battled away. He'll probably have a little break and he'll probably be back at Christmas time. I have 30 horses in in total, but only 10 or 12 that are racing. He keeps things going!. Shop DJ should be ready in a few weeks time.

He just keeps improving. We were a bit worried giving the weight away today (giving five pounds to his two rivals as he won two chases). He got in close to the last but he popped over it and he jumped well throughout. We will have to step him up to graded company now and there is lots of good races over the winter for him now that we know he handles the heavy ground. The race at Galway that he won has worked out well and small fields seem to suit him as it gives him time to settle.

I thought he'd have been sold after his point to point win but we decided to leave him off then as he wants good ground. We were worried about today's dead ground and it looked a serious race on paper. We'll go to Punchestwon next and hope for some nice ground.
